Pretty Good were commissioned to manage the digital and social campaign for the first live gig by award winning global artist Lady Gaga. As the first act of the iTunes Festival 2013, Lady Gaga’s appearance and the debut of eight new tracks was bound to make a big splash with fans both offline and online.
To capitalise on the ‘uniqueness’ of the event we set about creating a digital PR campaign that would best capture this. The first point was to give something to the fans. Offering followers on Twitter the chance to win tickets to the event we created the unique hashtag #ApplauseForLadyGaga. By using this, fans were entered into a ballot for a chance to win tickets. As this gig was sold out the tickets were extremely sought after and the competition added to the excitement. The response was overwhelming and quickly pushed it to be trending globally.
To follow up the ticket giveaway, for fans who were not lucky enough to get tickets for the show, we created a stream of tweets and Instagram images to complement iTunes’ live stream of the event, helping to capture all of the hype in the build-up to and during the event. Exclusive content was fed to us by Lady Gaga’s team which included the set list and details of the show enabling us to establish new hashtags and communicate them to fans in real time. This resulted in several global trending topics on Twitter.
